Max is a 5 year old, 40 pound red tri male Australian Shepherd. This boy is quite smart and loves to please his people. He will do a trick just to get some praise. Max also loves to play with other dogs, people or even by himself. He truly loves to snuggle with his family.
Max is a very playful dog. If you do not have the time to play with him and he is in the mood to, he will just grab a toy and throw it around the room himself. He will do the same with your shoes and you may have to search for them in the morning if you leave them out. However, this boy will not destroy them. He just wants to throw them. Max should be very comfortable in a home that has a non-aggressive dog in it. He is fearful of alpha dogs and will run away versus getting into a fight with a dog that’s aggressive towards him. Max loves to get outside and run and play with other dogs. He will also chase you around and try to herd you. Max has been around indoor cats and is very curious about them. He wants to play with them or chase them, but has done no harm.
This sweet pup is also very smart. He has learned tricks very quickly and doesn’t care if you give him treats to learn or just praise. This dude loves to hear what a good boy he is! Max enjoys cuddling with you on the couch and will make it difficult for you to get out of bed in the morning. He has even learned the difference between hitting snooze and going back to sleep and hitting snooze with moving to get up. He will jump up in bed as soon as he senses you are moving to give you kisses good morning and try to get you to snuggle back up with him. He also in enjoys being brushed and is the softest Aussie I’ve ever petted.
This sweet, cuddly guy loves women, kids and other dogs. He is a little shy with strangers but slowly warms to them. Max is getting more socialized everyday, however, he is reserved around men. It takes him longer to warm up to men than women and children.
Max is a very loving, fun, good-natured dog who has had a tough life up until recently. Due to lack of care, he came to ASRM with heartworm. He has since been treated and healthy as can be. Max is ready to be adopted now.
He is current on his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. Max is being fostered in Central Illinois and is now ready to find his perfect home! If you are interested in meeting this red tri Aussie guy, please fill out the ADOPTION APPLICATION and reference ASRM 0105 Max!
